BAYEX Emergency Response Exercise

The GRI LAMP system was deployed on a Boston Dynamics Spot robot during an emergency response training exercise at a transit station in a major city to map, localize, and identify potential radiological threats and hazards.

  • LAMP & Spot were remotely operated from the command center into the station to collect data without sending personnel in.

  • Data was streamed in real-time over a mesh radio network to rapidly provide radiation and situational awareness data

  • The 3D radiation map and other data updated in real-time as LAMP+Spot covered more areas.

  • The intuitive 3D radiation map was used by first responders to plan an optimized response to the train cars that were identified to have potential radioactive sources in them.
